The three villages are served by councils at County, District and Parish level, and fall within the Southern Division of Norfolk Constabulary.
Legislation to set up parish councils was passed in 1894 and Pulham St. Mary's was established in November of that year. Parish Councils have considerable freedom of action. Unlike the other two tiers of local government, there is little that they have to do by law, but there is a great deal that they have power to do should they so wish. Amongst the responsibilities that they undertake are street lighting, recreation grounds and play facilities, burial grounds, allotments.
Parish Councils pay for the services they provide by raising a precept on South Norfolk Council which is then charged to residents via the Council Tax.
Links to the relevant parish council are given from each village page.
