History of Norfolk County
Norfolk County is one of the oldest counties in Southern Ontario. The majority of settlers who first came to Norfolk County were those who were forced to vacate the American Colonies.

In 1776, 13 American states rebelled against Great Britain and those that remained loyal to The Crown were forced to abandon all their possessions. Some 3000 settlers were welcomed and granted land by The British Government in acknowledgement of their sacrifice . On January 1, 2001, the region of Haldimand Norfolk was dissolved and made into two individual counties.
