World Family visit from Pennsylvania

At the end of June we were delighted to receive a visit from Dr Philip Burlingame and his family from Pennsylvania, USA, representing Norwich Township and the lost towns of Norwich (of which now only a few houses remain). (See 'The World Family' pages).

Derek took the Burlingame family on a tour of the city visiting the Cathedral and the Castle. Photo from below Norwich Castle shows Derek receiving the gift of a pepper mill made of hardwood from Pennsylvania.

They also exchanged gifts and greetings with Felicity Hartley, Lord Mayor of Norwich.

During their visit Philip and his family also visited Burlingham, near Acle, which their ancestors emigrated from in the early 1800's.
